Great editorial design and original typography selection by Miguel Ferrera from Seville for the The Cantillana´s Cookbook, we really like the chalk lettering and could also be a great idea for a printed restaurant menu.

Tag Collective from NYC was asked to renew identity and create new interior design for Brooklyn Taco Co., using their own words, they did a great job communicating the brand’s “of modern authenticity”.
“ After successfully growing their business through NYC street markets like Hester St. Fair, Brooklyn Taco owners, Jesse and Erica, decided it was time for their brand to grow. We were tasked to not only create a new graphic identity, but also build out their first permanent taqueria in Essex St. Market.
The identity started with a wordmark that speaks to their craft and references hand painted signage seen throughout Brooklyn, this is paired with a Mexican inspired color palette and patterns. From the groundwork created by the graphic identity, the space took shape incorporating a strong graphic pattern, color palette and typography provided by the brand toolkit.
Brooklyn Tacos identity and space now seamlessly connect and tell a story of modern authenticity.”

Über magnificent branding and menu design project for Aroma restuarant / gastronomic lounge in Menorca, Spain by Eren Saracevic. It is the first time that we see a restaurant menu design of this style, with a brutal simplicity and so perfect operationally (the obersized typography is such a great contributioon), we like it a lot! Some notes from the designer:
“We were commisioned to create the new brand and the whole menu and comunication for the gastronomic lounge Aroma, in Menorca (Balearic Islands). They gave us the naming Aroma, that means taste in spanish. We decided to use a simple Gotham typeface for the logo, that would be in black and the rest of the senses in transparent UBI. With this typograhic structure and the nose illustration we had the elements to develop a whole brand for the gastronomic lounge.
To make a totally distinguishable menu, we made ourself a question: ¿If the most important thing in a restaurant is the food why is never reflected in the use of the typography? So, we dediced to use one page for each plate.
Here the function of the menu becomes more that show the food, it’s a way to understand the food and the way that it’s ate, the user is obligated to to have a more calm read of the menu and to enjoy the menu at the same way that he will enjoy the tasting of the food.
For the cover we decided to make something very simple to give more importance to the content. We decided to use just a simple illustration of a nose without the name. Project done with Albert Martínez Pujals. “

Another great project by the Mexicans Anagrama, forLa Fábrica del Taco in Buenos Aires. We really like the typography, colors and the retro style frontcover of their drink menu. More about the project with their own words:
“This project was created for a Mexican restaurant in Argentina. It was a very gratifying project mainly because we consider our gastronomic tradition as one of the greatest Mexican cultural legacies which has become an ambassador our identity in other countries. Taking this into account, the design process was conceived adapting references from the Mexican pop culture, specifically, custom hand made signage which typically uses uses saturated neon colors, a very simple symbology and an ingeniously traced typography.
The visual communication had to be easily understood mainly because the culinary “taco” culture in Argentina is non existent. We took, as a result, the typical Mexican taco stand colors mixing them in such a way that when combined with the typographic and iconic elements it would communicate tradition and modernity. This was essential as the restaurant is located in the Palermo Soho zone in Buenos Aires. The result was a high-end taco restaurant that aims at a young and demanding market filled with new experiences. This project was developed in collaboration with Nrmal.”

Bravo!
Riffle NW in Portland’s Pearl District is a great restaurant branding project by Hovercraft. We are in love with their color plate selection and table “hole” idea to drop the drink menu. Bravo!
In Hovercraft own words:
“A restaurant located in Portland’s Pearl District, Riffle NW is led by accomplished executive chef Ken Norris and Jennifer Q. Norris. The menu is built upon all things sustainable, ocean and river (see: catch inspired). Our role was to develop a complete brand experience that supported the notion of finer dining in a more personable and laid back environment. Anchored around a series of illustration’s, the identity system spreads across all collateral, from matchbooks & menus to kitchen staff uniforms. We also delivered an in-depth & highly responsive HTML5 driven website and mobile experience.
Riffle was happy enough with our work to name a delicious pepper vodka concoction the Hovercraft, which is probably our biggest accomplishment to date”
